The SBI Clerk Prelims for 2025 has already started, and the last day of the exam will be 27 September. This year, the bank has opened 6,589 vacancies for Junior Associates, and as expected, lakhs of students from different states are appearing. From the feedback so far, the paper seems to fall in the moderate category—not too easy, not too tough.
Now the big question everyone asks: What will be the cut-off?
Based on early reviews, exam experts believe the prelims cut-off should land somewhere between 45 and 75 marks, but the exact figure will vary for each state and category.
Why Does the Cut Off Matter So Much?
SBI always fixes its cut-off after checking a mix of things—the number of vacancies, how many candidates appeared, the level of difficulty, and of course, last year’s results. In short, if the competition is stiff or the paper is easier, the cut-off naturally goes higher. On the other hand, a tougher paper usually pulls the cut-off a little lower.
Quick Recap of Day 1
Students who took the exam on the very first day (20 September) mostly described it as moderate. On average, attempting 70–80 questions felt like a safe bet. From this, the expected cut-off is being guessed in the range of 45–75.
State-wise Predictions
Since SBI uses a state-wise cut-off system, the score you need in Delhi may not be the same as in Assam or Bihar. Here are the expected ranges, based on analysis of trends and early reviews:
- Andhra Pradesh: 65–70
- Arunachal Pradesh: 45–55
- Assam: 60–67
- Bihar: 47–55
- …and so on for each state (list continues as in your table).

Previous Year’s Picture
Last year (2024), the prelims cut-offs also showed a lot of variation from state to state. Checking those numbers helps set a “safe target” this year as well.
How to Find the Official Cut Off
The official list will only be out once SBI declares results. It will be released as a PDF file on the bank’s website. Students just need to:
- Go to co.in
- Open the Recruitment tab
- Click on the SBI Clerk Cut Off 2025 link
- Download the PDF and check their category-wise marks
What Actually Decides the Cut Off?
Several things influence it every single year:
- Vacancies (fewer posts mean higher cut-off)
- Number of applicants (more people = more competition)
- Paper’s difficulty level
- Normalisation across shifts
- Reservation rules
- Performance of students overall
